We all know the positive effect nature has on us, but did you know that even having a few basic plants in the office can have a surprising effect on productivity.
If very happy employees is the objective then visual access to nature from the office is what is needed. This is rather easy to understand but at times it just may be enough with much less vegetation. A new study from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) in Ås, Norway has confirmed this fact in a very remarkable way: Test persons were asked to solve the same tasks in the study. One group sat at desks with plants on them while the other group had no plants. The result: the group with plants at work performed better.
The concept can seem rather too simple to be true, but according to Ruth Raanaas from UMB, this can be explained by the fact that we spend such a large part of our lives at work and even small things can play a major part in terms of well-being and performance.
