Psst... do you want to know a secret?
It’s in the air
In our factory in Jönköping, Sweden, we noticed that the supply of compressed air was insufficient. The obvious answer for many companies would be to replace their compressors with larger ones. Not at Kinnarps. Instead, having measured the consumption and suspecting something was amiss, our production manager took a walk around the factory during weekend down time and could hear the hissing of air seeping out at various points. Fast and efficient action to seal any small leaks on machines and air-pipes did the trick: suddenly there was enough air again. To avoid a recurrence of the problem, our service department now regularly repeats these inspections during quiet down times. When they hear the slightest ‘psst’, they can seal the leak at once. The secret behind a better environment - and more profitable production - can sometimes be found by thinking differently and looking at the detail.
"Leaking compressed air is a common energy waster in industry. At Kinnarps, we listen for leaks during down times. The least ‘psst’, and we are there to seal it."
