We at Kinnarps take our work with the environment very seriously indeed. We always try to offer products and services that have the least possible environmental impact. For this reason we are also starting a test project with a lorry run on biodiesel as a step in making our transports even more sustainable.
The lorry used in the project is driven daily between Kinnarps' production locations in Sweden. It travels some 170,000 kilometres a year. So it is the ideal vehicle to follow to see the effects of the new fuel," says Ingemar Åberg, vehicle fleet manager at Kinnarps:
- "The lorry used in the project is filled with RME, rape methyl ester. RME can be produced from most vegetable and animal oils and fats such as rape oil, sunflower oil as well as spent deep fried oil. One other benefit is its suitability as a fuel in our Swedish wintry weather conditions with ice and cold."
The project will run for a year to enable the long-term effects to be measured.
- "We are looking forward with excitement to what the effects are and if biodiesel can be a potential fuel for the trucks customised to run on RME. Up to now it's all looking good," says Ingemar Åberg.
