Spectacular shoes

One of today’s most renowned architects, Zaha Hadid, is perhaps most famous for her organic quasi-futuristic creations: buildings, interior design and furniture. The British designer has now moved from the large scale to the small – in shoes – just as spectacular as her architecture. Brazilian shoemaker Melissa had previously asked wellknown designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler to create new models. And not just any old shoes – all the 2.3 million pairs sold annually are made of recycled plastic. Ideal both for vegans and environmentally aware consumers. And if that wasn’t enough, Melissa recycles 99% of its factory’s water and waste and also pays its employees above-average wages. The result: shoes that are both environmentally sound and carry a fair-trade label!
