The annual design week in Milan was recently held, and the city completely buzzed with inspiration thirsty visitors. The heart of the event is the exhibition Il Salone de Mobile, and had this year, in addition to the traditional exhibitors, invited the world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel, who portrayed his idea of different types of work environments.
Perhaps "Satellite" is the most interesting part of the exhibition. It is where the students have an opportunity to exhibit their work; a little freer, a little crazier and evokes a little more thoughts.
During the week Milan is completely bustling of activities, events and design districts with exhibits of all types of design; products, art and fashion. Kinnarps was of course on site and we were touched, inspired and motivated. A positive spirit permeated our days. Regardless if the companies were able to showcase new products, due to the current economic climate, nearly all had renewed themselves in one way or another. It could for example be a new booth concept, new colours or presentation technique.
Enclosed please find a presentation including a film and an e-PDF, in how we interpreted the week. Here you will find some of the tendencies and trends that we thought shone most clearly on Milan's design heaven. (The film & PDF complement each others so please make sure you watch both).
