Creating a pleasant working environment for the new head office in France
Makita, the world's leading supplier of portable electric power tools for professionals, contracted Kinnarps to create an interior design for its new head office in Ile de France. The concept for the new building is a largely open-plan office design, punctuated by managerial offices with glass walls, in order to promote optimum visual communication within the team. The key aim was to create a pleasant working environment. To this end, the employee work areas, managerial offices, meeting and training rooms and cafeteria all underwent a detailed analysis to identify the best ways to promote a sense of well-being and team spirit.
Ergonomics, colours and functionality
Based on the results of the analysis, Kinnarps created a pleasant work space, with a design centred around the colour red in order to reinforce the brand's visual identity. The seats and workstations, all of which are height adjustable and offer plenty of accessible storage space, were carefully selected in order to ensure optimal ergonomics. The meeting rooms are fitted with flexible furniture solutions that can be easily stacked and stored away. The design for the cafeteria required particular consideration, as Makita wanted to create a space where staff could meet with colleagues and discuss ideas, as well as eat their lunch. A bright colour scheme was therefore selected in order to create a vibrant and warm atmosphere.
