SwedBank Market, which forms part of Swedbank in Gothenburg, is moving into a traditional building on Södra Hamngatan right in the centre of Gothenburg. The magnificent Renaissance building has been home to various types of banking activities, including Sveriges Riksbank, since the mid 1800s. Comprehensive rebuilding and extension work has preceded the move.

The building’s original facade has been preserved, while its interior comprises a beautifully restored entrance hall with a reception and workstations on three levels. But that’s where the history ends. Immediately behind the old bank, a new four-storey building has been constructed and is furnished with a surface area and all the functions suitable for modern banking activities. The two buildings are connected by a large opening in the rear wall of the old building.
