Tired of white office walls? Change colours with a click on your mobile phone!
Some mornings, you get to the office and wish someone would replace the interior furnishings or at least repaint a wall.
The English designer giant Ron Arad has designed one of the year's most interesting new products – No Bad Colours are wall tiles that can change colour. Looking for a soothing blue wall at the board meeting in the morning, a feisty yellow for lunch and then a fiery red in the evening after work – the choice is yours and the variations are endless. But here there is no need for a roller or use of paint, as the entire process is controlled from your computer or mobile phone. Another bonus is of course that you do not have to worry about whether you chose the wrong shade at the shop...
The technology was developed by the British company Versatiles Technologies and is based on electrical impulses that are sent through a thin film of fluid between the tiles. There is in other words no standard source of light, which is very handy even from a maintenance viewpoint.
It costs around £400 per square meter to install No Bad Colours which is comparable with the price of marble.
"This is a very exciting technology with so many areas of application. It can of course be applied to walls and floors, but also to furniture and smaller products. This is only the start," says Ron Arad.
