Thermal tables

Multi-functional furniture was one of the Milan Furniture Fair's most exciting trends. Among lots of hot new products, we from Kinnarps spotted a table which doubles up as a radiator!

The table, which is designed by the French design duo, Raphaël Ménard and Jean-Sebastien Lagrange, stores energy during hot days, to then help warm up the room when it gets a bit chillier. An ingenious solution for both the environment and your wallet.

"This is a technology which is going to work well, above all, in large public spaces such as meeting rooms and classrooms, but also in restaurants and offices," says Jean-Sebastien Lagrange.

So how does it work? A plastic wax located in aluminium channels on the underside of the table absorbs the heat and melts when the temperature exceeds 22 degrees. When the temperature drops, the wax solidifies and releases heat. Plastic fantastic!
