Haringey 6th Form Centre

A modern education environment to serve the community

Background

In creating a totally inclusive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their full potential, Haringey Sixth Form Centre selected Kinnarps furniture as an important element in the overall scheme.

The state of the art education and recreation centre is the first of its kind in the borough and set out to break new ground in design. To that end, Kinnarps worked closely with the college’s staff, architects HMY and main contractor Willmott Dixon.

Solution

General teaching areas, for example, use Edux foldable training tables, making it easy to re-configure the spaces for different activities. These are combined with Jig chairs and Series [e] storage cabinets.

The Series [e] suite of products has been used widely throughout the project, ranging from Series [e] desks in study areas and staff areas, to a wide range of Series [e] storage cabinets in various configurations. In the staff room, Series [e] pedestals have been combined with meeting table tops to make optimum use of space. Tables are fitted with light beech tops, while storage units combine a light beech front with dark grey sides. Solo task chairs in a black finish have also been used widely throughout the centre. The Principal’s office is furnished with Deciso desking.

"Once we saw the possibilities presented by the Kinnarps range we knew that this was the furniture for our building, our staff and students.  The staff at Kinnarps we responsive to our budget and out programme, and helped us achieve a long wearing solution. After the initial fit out no subsequent smaller order was treated with less importance.  Especially helpful are the on-site delivery staff and assemblers."
