Tall order for Kinnarps desk
Dr Abbas Elmualim presented Kinnarps Reading with a lofty challenge. One for which the company had a simple, yet extremely effective solution.
At 6’ 7”, Dr Elmualim was used to having to stoop to reach things and had even taken to propping up his desk on blocks, to enable him to sit as comfortably as possible. However, the moment Kinnarps’ Jason Bentley saw him, he realised that he had the perfect solution in the ‘Elevator’ desk. With one touch of a button, the desk could be adjusted to provide Dr Emlualim with a perfectly positioned work surface.
Dr Elmualim is a lecturer at Reading University and specialises in construction management, with expertise and particular interest in the study of sustainable facilities management, intelligent buildings, the use of renewable energy and sustainable business environments in general. This brought him into contact with Kinnarps at a workplace seminar held at its Reading local business centre.
When Dr Elmualim toured the showroom, Jason was on hand to explain the benefits of an Elevator desk and fully ergonomic chair.
“As soon as Jason showed me the height-adjustable desk I knew I wanted one. The University was equally impressed with the quality and functionality and an order to Kinnarps resulted in a swift delivery”, explains Dr Elmualim.
He continues: “The desk is so simple to adjust and this, combined with my Kinnarps desk chair, means I can sit ergonomically and comfortably, with exactly the right posture and no back pain. Having to prop up my previous desk on blocks was a health and safety hazard and looked awful. Being so tall has its challenges, but having the Kinnarps desk and chair helps me to work effectively - and in far greater style!”
