Sit up – think better

Would you like to have a more positive approach? And perhaps even think better! Start by examining your desk and your task chair. Researchers from Harvard University have been able to prove a clear-cut correlation between posture and our hormones.

We have heard it since we were children: "Sit up properly in your chair". Our parents were probably closer to the truth than they could ever have known. But it is not just about how others perceive you, but also about what is actually happening in your brain. If you sit up in a comfortable position instead of slouching across the desk, thinking in more positive terms becomes easier, not to mention the fact that you maintain your energy level in a completely different way, according to a study by Harvard University. So how does this add up? Well our posture affects our hormones and ultimately how we feel and even the decisions we make. This must not of course be confused with sitting completely still in the task chair, quite the contrary, it is important to keep moving even when we sit down. The findings of the study were startling: It could be clearly seen that the participants had higher levels of testosterone by having a better posture  - something that was established by taking a saliva sample - and the more decisive they became. The study also showed that good posture makes us more inclined to take risks and embrace new opportunities. In other words, your subconscious is affected by how you sit, stand and walk. It is therefore especially important that you have a functional workplace with carefully selected furniture.
