Kinnarps Welcomes The Forgotten British Gurkhas
Kinnarps, recently welcomed Paul Keddie, the chairman of trustees of charity ‘The Forgotten British Gurkha’, and retired Gurkhas, Chandra Budhathoki and Madan Gurung, to a business-networking event at the company’s showroom and local business centre in Fareham.
Given the level of media attention leading up to the policy change on their residency rights, (and Madan and Chandra’s recent appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show with Joanna Lumley), the Gurkhas were quite a talking point at the event!
Geoff Paterson, Head of Local Business for Kinnarps explains:
“Our guests were particularly intrigued to see themselves networking on the Meridian evening news programme. Reporter Sally Simmonds had filmed a piece about the charity’s work, at the event, and then sped back to the studio in time to edit it for the six o’clock broadcast.”
He continues: I’m delighted to say that the raffle we held that evening generated some much needed funds for the charity, but even more importantly, the networking experience added to the Gurkhas’ skill set and resulted in several offers of further help, in terms of both fundraising and job offers, from the local business community.”
