REDUCING STRESS

2013-06-07

– bring your dog to the office! We take a closer look at this disputable trend.

What would you say if one of your colleagues brought their dog to work? Would you screw up your nose, or are you the sort to immediately offer to take it for a walk? A new study from Virginia Commonwealth University shows that pets at work have a positive effect on the atmosphere and working morale. It is not unusual that the owners themselves feel better, but it is perhaps surprising that it has a positive impact on the atmosphere and stress levels among colleagues. A further bonus is that the company is perceived as employee-focused and helpful, which also contributes to greater solidarity. The survey also highlighted the need for a clear policy - not just with respect to different allergies but also fears and phobias. This means there are companies which do not permit dogs on site, but you are allowed to bring your favourite tortoise to work.
