Do you find it hard to concentrate on the task at hand and easily lose focus? Here are the smartest tips on how to take control over your everyday life!
How often do you sit down in front of the computer to solve an important task, and after a few seconds, there is something else vying for your attention? You get a message on Facebook, and after checking it you browse on among your friends' updates and soon you are sitting there marvelling at the fact that it's raining in Rome or that a nephew has learned to talk. This is not very productive but it is a very human reaction. The problem is that for every such interruption, it will take you between 10 and 15 minutes to fully concentrate again on the task. So what should one think of?
There are a number of basic tips: One very effective way is to gauge how you use your time. Reading once about a young relative who can talk is important in itself, but when you do it for the third time in the space of 30 minutes, you should time yourself. In this way you can work out how much time you are wasting daily.
Another smart step is to start every day by making a list of what you have to do. It might sound trite, but it is a simple way to stay focused. When the babysitter phones about a practical matter, it does not mean that you have to check what the weather is like in London after the call.
Finally, and with the best of intentions: If you constantly think that your friends' updates on Facebook are more important than your job, then you have a problem with your motivation and you should probably think about doing something else in the future.
