Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2018. A unique sustainability tool and highly commended design at Kinnarps
Kinnarps' stands welcomed many inquisitive visitors during the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. Both the products on display and the activities Kinnarps ran during the week were permeated by a combination of sustainability and design. The basis of the sustainability perspective is The Better Effect Index – a unique tool that evaluates the sustainability of products. The tool is designed on the basis of the areas that different target groups have identified from a sustainability perspective, and each area is rated on a three-point scale. This creates a clear, transparent picture of the product's sustainability performance.
Kinnarps' sustainability concept around this year's press event with the Open Minds panel discussion attracted a great deal of attention, and many interesting points of view were expressed. The guests were award-winning architect Gert Wingårdh, Louise König, voted sustainability manager of the year in Sweden in 2017, Erik Huss from the Fores think tank, Johanna Ljunggren, sustainability manager at Kinnarps, and Robert Petersson, CEO at Kinnarps. The moderator was Renée Nyberg from TV4 (Swedish television).
Another popular event was the press event for the foreign press, which Kinnarps organised in collaboration with Visit Stockholm, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Stockholm International Fairs and Congress Centre in its showroom in Sickla, Stockholm on the Tuesday of the Fair. On Wednesday Johanna Ljunggren, Sustainability Manager at Kinnarps, participated as the representative of the furniture industry in the Wooden Furniture Association's (Trämöbelförbundet or TMF) panel debate on the topic ”How can the Swedish furniture industry contribute to saving the world?”.
At the Fair, Kinnarps presented two products that have recently won awards: the functional and stylish LEIA meeting chair, which received the iF Design Award, and the SPACE range of furniture, which received the Good Design™ award. These are two very well-known and prestigious design awards. The visitors also had an opportunity to find out about Kinnarps' concept for the workplaces and schools of the future – Kinnarps Next Office and Next Education. All in all, we can look back on a highly successful week of interesting meetings, a lot of activities and new angles on sustainability.
